ACTA Competency Units (CU)

The LGAs for the 6 ACTA CUs can be a killer, especially for newbie without prior exposure in training and development. The drumming of jargons (RPL, target audience…), head spinning theoretical models (Carey ID model, Skinner Operant theory…….) and the spectre of assignments requirements i.e. plan out a curriculum, develop assessment plan, cross reference matrix…………

Interpretation of WSQ Competency Standards

ACTA is a great programme despite its key weakness: compressing of critical knowledge contents within the allocated training hours and over emphasis on assessment leading to “lost at sea” upon application of gained knowledge in actual workplace activities i.e. curriculum development, classroom management………..

The attached  ACTA CUs remained in the raw state for highlighting on reflection: the many “errors” that may warrant the dreaded “NYC” (Not Yet Competent) status.

Overview of ACTA

Singapore CET has evolved from OJT, NSRS to present WSQ framework and attainment of ACTA / DACE qualifications is becoming  mandatory for individuals aspiring to be trainers or developers of WSQ suite of programmes in ATOs. (http://www.ial.edu.sg/index.aspx?id=300)

Quite a mouthful of acronyms with many more to memorise upon pursuit of ACTA qualification. Understanding the interconnection of these acronyms is invaluable especially in CD (curriculum development) where the UKs, PCs, CEs serve as road markers.
